the Rejected Realms

The Rejected Realms is one of four Sinker regions and the primary ejection-free zone in NS. When a nation is ejected, it is automatically moved from the region it was ejected from and into the Rejected Realms. It is impossible to eject a nation from the Rejected Realms, which makes an invasion much different than in other regions.

The Realms has its own defender force, the RRA, or Rejected Realms Army, and publishes a periodic newspaper chronicling events in NationStates, The Rejected Times.

Government and military

Regional government is a simple matter. The Delegate's role is to represent the region in the WA, and the rest is really military structure.

The current Regional Delegate is Catalyse. The known chronological list of Delegates runs Louldamin-Gres to MrNonchalant to Kandarin to Sedgistan to Collector of Souls to Frattastan II to Unibot III to Guy to Libetarian Republics to The Church of Satan. Kandarin is by far the longest-serving Delegate, holding the post for eight years (minus a few days due to raider incursions) before handing it off to Sedgistan in 2011.

When Kandarin left NS, he handed his nation to Naivetry for safekeeping. She later served as delegate using his nation.

Prior to Gres' delegacy (May 2003-June 2003) the RR was controlled by various invaders. Gres, upon becoming Delegate, organized the RRA; however it behaved in a rather hostile fashion and Gres was eventually ejected from the UN for UN multis. After a brief occupation (again) by foreign invaders, the Delegacy returned to native hands. The first RR government, set up in July 2003, did not really perpetuate.

The RRA has changed little since it was established as one of the first defender groups. Its command has been altered several times, but overall it has continuously acted as a defender group since its founding.

Trends

The Rejected Realms is a gargantuan region, with a massive community, boasting over 6296 member nations. The Rejected Realms is also feared by World Assembly members everywhere, with votes from 339 member nations.

In The Rejected Realms, denizens scatter at the sight of strangers and are careful to keep carefully blank faces when approached. Political freedoms are extended only to close friends and relatives of the leaders of the region's governments. The almost total lack of economic activity in the country is a constant sore spot for politicians. Inhabitants rarely are visited by the tax collector, and the region boasts a paltry median tax rate of -1%. The economies of nations in the region tend to be dominated by the private sector, with on average only -1% of the economy comprising the public sector. Commerce is low priority for governments, accounting for an average of -1% of public expenditure, although commerce is generally seen as a source of tax revenue.

Denizens of the The Rejected Realms are poorly educated, with rampant illiteracy. Criminality is rife within the region, with law enforcement struggling to cope. Governments allocate a meagre -1%, on average, of their budgets to law and order. Denizens have small defense forces. Public transport is an afterthought, with only -1% of total government budgets in the region being devoted to it.

Governments in The Rejected Realms find themselves in a constant state of disarray, with very little co-ordination, only -1% on average of government budgets being devoted to Administration. Some government provision is made for healthcare, but at an average of only -1% the provision for healthcare in the region is paltry. Welfare in the region is minimal, with only a small amount of expenditure being devoted to spending on social security. Spirituality is a moderate priority of governments within the region, with-1% of government budgets being devoted to Spirituality.

Social inequality is rife amongst the nations within The Rejected Realms. The environments of the nations in the region are almost universally appalling.
