Heimar, officially the United Kingdoms of Heimar (Altman: Vereinigte Königreiche von Heimarr), is a federal monarchy in Northwestern Audax. It includes 4 provinces and covers an area of () square kilometres ( sq mi) with a largely temperate seasonal climate, and a population of 222.3 million inhabitants. Its capital is Zwickau, and largest city is Nordheim. Heimar's terrain is largely varied. In the east, there are the Korpergrosse mountains, one of the largest mountain ranges on the western continent. In western Heimar is the Black Forest, a hilly, thickly wooded area that continues into Solaria. In the south the climate becomes much more Mediterranean, with several large lakes, grasslands, and wetlands.
Various Eld clans have occupied northern Heimar since classical antiquity. During the 10th century, the Altberg empire expanded past the Korpoergrosse mountains and settled the valleys of eastern Heimar, expanding north along the coasts, and mingling and integrating with the native clans. During the 12th and 13th centuries, Trinitat became the dominate religion in Heimar, replacing the old pagan religions of the native clansmen, however most of the Altics adopted or merged their cultural traits with those of the native clans, and many married into the clans.
With the end of the Altberg Empire in the 13th century, most administration of the area fell under several clan leaders, who began competing for power over the land, beginning a period of near-constant war between the small states. Several large Clan-Kingdoms or "Clandoms" emerged from the period, including the "Clandoms" of Alemanning, Franung, Chatting, Zwickung, Frising, Cambring, and Thorung. Throughout the 13th and 14th centuries, the clans expanded to the west and settled most of the Solarian forest. Simultaneously, many of the clan-kingdoms were absorbed or conquered, forming larger more centralised ones.
In 1450, the Zwickung King Otto Hjálmarr I was crowned emperor and founded the United Kingdoms of Heimar. The Kingdoms were divided for a short time in 1762 during the War of Heimarn succession until it was reunified two years later. In 1775 war broke out between Heimar and Hawkwick, ultimately resulting in a Hawkwickan defeat in 1777, and Heimar gaining possession of the Stinpor colonies. In 1813, Branden (predecessor to what is now Wahland) declared their independence, gaining it officially after a short war with Heimar.
Not long after suffering a loss in the Branden war, Artstotszka invaded Solaria, quickly overwhelming Heimar through superior technology. The war ended in a peace treaty, and Solaria was ceded to Artstotszka, with Heimar gaining control of Zwitelgeist, a predominantly Artsotszkan trade and port city.
In 2014, Heimar became involved in the Hawkwickan civil war, initially backing the Hawkwickan National Freedom Assembly, or NFA. After the battle of New Altberg and Markus Albrecht's rise to the throne, Markus signed a treaty with Jorik Narheim, leader of a coup within HARM, creating the Altic Union. Heimar would become the leading state as Markus Albrecht was named King of the Union. In early 2015, the Altic Union invaded Vandinium following a terrorist attack on the Downtown Zwickau mall by Vandiniumite intelligence agents.

Etymology
Heimar(Heimarr) is a combination of the old altic and eld words heim and herr, which mean home/house and warrior/army. Several theories exist attempting to explain where the name originates, the mostly widely accepted being that when Hawkwickan explorers first made contact with the nomadic Eld-like clans in the northeast of what is now Heimar, they nicknamed the land "home of the warriors", as the clans were known for their fierce warrior culture and excellent spearmen.
