The 1973 Torisakian Annexation of González Archipelago is part of the Narsora-Torisakia Crisis that erupted in mid-1973 after military forces from Torisakia invaded and annexed the narsoran controlled González Archipelago.
Background
The González Archipelago was put under control of the narsoran government after independence in 1957. Beginning in 1969 the government of Torisakia claimed the islands were part of their territory and that narsoran forces were illegally occupying them.
Conflict
In early 1973, the torisakian government issued an ultimatum to the narsoran government to withdraw all military forces or they would take the islands back by force. The Narsoran government did not heed this warning and on July 10, 1973 22,000 soldiers from the Torisakian Army landed on the islands and caught narsoran forces off guard. The ensuing 22-day battle saw narsoran forces suffer swift casualties and on August 2nd, they retreated and fled the island allowing it to fall into torisakian control.
Aftermath
In the aftermath of the conflict relations all but dissolved between the two countries, even leading to smaller conflicts in 2009 and near all-out war in 2014.
