Atlantis Imperial Glass and Crystal Factory is a Diadochian imperial manufacturing factory on the outskerts of Atlantis, the imperial capital.

History

The Imperial Glass and Crystal Factory was founded in December 1645 at the time, however, the Diadochians had fallen behind in the leading glass technological country; instead, the Republic of Venice was known as the world leader in glass manufacturing, controlling a technical and commercial monopoly of the glass and mirror business. Emperor Constantine VI of Diadochia wanted Diadochia to become completely self-sufficient in glass manufacturing so as to strengthen the country's large luxury products industry thereby strengthening the national economy in the whole.

To compete with the Italian glass industry, the Emperor commissioned several Venetian glassworkers he had enticed to Atlantis to work for the company.

By the 1700s, the Atlantis Glass Factory was known for its high artistically masterful pieces of glass, and from its founding it was appointed to produce unique glass ware for the Imperial Court of Diadochia. In 1770, over a hundred twenty five years since its founding, Empress Zoe II of Diadochia proclaimed "This enterprise should produce "artistic works for presentation to the Imperial Court and to be granted to diverse persons and institutions in the Sovereign's name."

All glassware is made in accordance with designs that are received from the Emperor with his express approval, and also following models and drawings that had been confirmed by the Megas Parakoimomenos or the director of the Bureau of Imperial Manufactories and Works.

The factory also produces glass vessels ordered by the section of the Palace Administration responsible for ensuring that the pantries of the Emperor's and all other members of the Imperial family regularly are stocked with new sets of crystal service that were especially prepared for them. As of 2013 the factory produces each year around 96,000 items of different kinds of glassware for the various Imperial palaces.

Beginning in the 1850, by Imperial Decree of Emperor George VII of Diadochia, the Imperial Glass Factory produces glass objects for display in both domestic and international fairs, for charitable lotteries and for the museums attached to schools of art and industry.
