Emerik (pronunciation: em-AIR-ik), officially the Democratic Republic of Emerik (Bengali: Emerikā dēmōkrēṭika ripābalika) is a small, landlocked nation, formerly the state of Mizoram in northeast India. The capital and largest city in Emerik is Damon Prasad City, built over the ruins of Aizawl. Emerik covers an area of 21,087 square kilometers (8,142 square miles), about the size of Israel.

Politics

Damon Prasad is the Great and Eternal Leader of the Republic, Guide of the Revolution, and Leader of the Party. He is known worldwide as the President of the Democratic Republic of Emerik. He led the Emerikans in the Emerikan Revolution for independence against India. He is the national hero of Emerik, lauded and respected for his stand against Western colonialism and his revolutionary style of socialism. However, in the rest of the world, Prasad is seen as a dangerous, brutal, and sadistic dictator, mocked for his cult of personality, excessive Emerikan jingoism, and North Korean ruling style. Additionally, he has been accused of "ethnic cleansing," campaigning genocides against the Indian and Bengali minorities.

Damon Prasad is also the Leader of the People's National Revolutionary Party of Emerik (PNRPE). The PNRPE is the dominant political party in Emerik, currently holding 89% of the seats of the People's Congress of Emerik. and all other political parties must be approved by the PNRPE before they can be represented in the People's Congress. The PNRPE is known to be both a radical communist party and a nationalistic, almost fascist-style party. The seven other political parties consist of communist and democratic socialist parties, as well as a centrist party.

Demographics

The Emerikans, formerly known as Mizos, were a native tribe to the Mizoram state of India. They have been known for loathing Indian rule, and had a revolution in the late stages of the Cold War. They had strong ties to the Soviet Union.

The Mizoram region has been traditionally known for having a Presbyterian Christian majority, and a notable Buddhist minority. However, after the Revolution, religion was banned. Emerik is internationally mocked for having a state religion of "Prasadism" because of the large personality cult around Prasad.

Economy

Emerik has a socialist economic policy. All sectors have been nationalized, and industrial workers must reach high quotas, similar to Soviet 5-year plans.

The Emerik rupee (र) is the national currency of Emerik. It trades at an exchange rate of $1.00 = र54.24. Emerik has a GDP per capita of $1105.69 and an overall GDP of $1,206,326,943 ($1.2 billion).

The population of Emerik is 1,091,014. Emerik Bengali is the official language. The overwhelming majority of Emerik's population is Emerikan. No official census has been taken.

International Controversy

Emerik has ethnic and cultural policies that have been compared to the Khmer Rouge. Most large cities have been destroyed, with the exception of Damon Prasad City. Schools, hospitals, and other buildings deemed to be "Western influences" have also been destroyed. There have been numerous genocides committed against people who were not ethnically Emerikan. It has been noted that, since its independence, the population has decreased by about 50,000.

Emerik’s secret police, known as “Personal and National Security,” is the most notorious secret police system in the world. Besides forced disappearances and rigid monitoring of the population through video cameras, it is also known for raiding people’s homes and rearranging items, a common cause of insanity and suicide within Emerik. The official secret police membership count is estimated at 20,000, about 1 in 50 of the population. Furthermore, there are an estimated 180,000 informants to the secret police, which means that 1 in 5 citizens of Emerik are somehow associated with the secret police system.

Emerik’s National Schools are required to include a unit on basic military training. The glories of serving in the military are widely praised in the system, and Emerik has the second proportionally largest army in the world. Its membership is 385,245.

Emerik is a totalitarian state that imposes complete control over its citizens. The Internet has been banned in all parts of the country except for the capital city, where it is tightly regulated and censored. Additionally, citizens are not allowed to possess firearms, locks on doors, cars, camera, or clothing considered “Western.” These laws are supposedly made for personal security. Emerik has completely state-controlled media and propaganda departments.

Emerik supports the death penalty and has the world's highest execution rate; capital punishment is typically carried out by firing squad, rather than lethal injection, and is generally done in public. These are generally used for people who commit actions vaguely defined as “counter-revolutionary” or “Western.” Additionally, Emerik arrests friends and families of political criminals to easily keep order. Emerikan security forces are required to use torture against political prisoners, captured members of insurgent groups, and frequently carry out executions of captured rebel fighters, gang members, pirates, etc. Emerik also maintains a variety of harsh punishments that have been internationally condemned as cruel and inhumane, even medieval. These include induced starvation, solitary confinement for up to months at a time, thumbscrews, kicking genital areas, electric shock, and raping of women.

Emerik as a whole is one of the most despised and frequently mocked regimes in the world. It is the Indian subcontinent’s worst economy, despite being one of Asia’s leading military powers. It installed a Khmer Rouge-style national communist system that organizes mass killings of non-Emerikans, with a strongly retrograde mindset towards economic and social progression.
