Popular Music

EDM

The acronym "EDM" was adopted by the music industry and music press as a word to describe the increasingly commercial electronic dance music scene. "EDM" is the umbrella term for which other genres fall under (i.e.; house, Daminotronica, trance, techno, trap and dubstep).

"EDM" is not a genre of its own but a collected group of subgenres of electronic dance music.

Daminy has played a significant role in the development of electronic dance music within Moneylania, specifically dance, house, moombah and trance. A phrase "Daminy is known for it EDM scene worldwide. If you make it big in Daminy, you make it big anywhere" coined by radio host Juan Costez, is used for aspiring EDM artists.

Jazz

Jazz is a kind of music characterized by swung and blue notes, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation. Though originally a kind of dance music, jazz has been a major part of popular music, and has also become a major element of Damanian music in the early 20's. Early jazz was closely related to ragtime, with which it could be distinguished by the use of more intricate rhythmic improvisation.

The earliest jazz bands adopted much of the vocabulary of the blues, including bent and blue notes and instrumental "growls" and smears otherwise not used on Eastern Moneylanian instruments. Damanian Jazz roots come from the city of Trosnikovo, Northern Daminy. Large Damanian bands that played for funerals and parades became a major basis for early jazz, which spread from Trosnikovo to Youthsville and other northern urban centers.
