Martigues (French IPA: [maʁtiɡ]), officially the Principality of Martigues (French: Principauté de Martigues [pʁɛ̃sipote də maʁtiɡ]), is a country whose territories consist of a small area in France clinging to the coast of the Mediterranean alongside colonies governed by the Martiguesian East India Company.
Martigues gained independence from France on July 10, 2017, and started out as a normal nation but it slowly became more authoritarian and pro-business. The nation has been criticized and threatened for these things, and yet this has not changed the government's stance on civil and political rights. However, the nation's capitalist stance has led to many companies calling it a haven.
History
Independence and development
Martigues declared independence from France on July 10, 2017, after an independence referendum. Alejandro Vorno, a local resident, was chosen to be the nation's Crown Prince after a brief election and he stylized himself as Prince Alejandro I. The nation then focused on developing the area and quite a lot of funds were diverted to reclaiming land for the nation's new capital, Glace City. After it was completed, the nation then focused on annexing new territories, partly diplomatically (for example through the Treaty of Hong Kong) and partly militarily (for example through the South Asian Campaign). The nation started to be too large to manage alone, so Prince Alejandro I Martigues instituted the positions of Prime Minister and (later) Colonial Governor.
