The Democratic Republic of Polypus is a huge, safe nation, renowned for its museums and concert halls, punitive income tax rates, and devotion to social welfare. The compassionate population of 630 million Polypusians are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt. The nation is relatively new, having only existed since 1786.
History

Pre-Unification
Before the unification of Polypus, it was made up of twelve smaller nations, all of which refused to make contact with the outside world.
Birth of Unuigi
The figure Unuigi is present throughout the written lore of Polypus. It is believed he was born in the nation of Dekunu circa 1754.
