Nation/The Cloud Peoples

Overview:

The Republic of The Cloud Peoples is an (alternate account) nation founded in May 2014 and the founder of The Universal Allegiance. It can be located on the west of the main continent of The Universal Allegiance and has a very large area and thus at the moment a relatively low population density.

Geography and Geology

The Republic of The Cloud Peoples is mainly quite mountainous especially in the interior. However in the south east, on the coast, and in the north east around the mouth of the River Eden, it is flatter. This is also where most of the population is found.

The relief of the interior generally provides a cooler but wetter climate then in the east with the exception of the far west which is verging on arid and desert environments. This is mainly due to the distance from the sea (the direction of the prevailing wind is from the east). To the north east and north around the capital, the climate is generally drier but relatively cool as a result of northerly winds cooling as is passes over the mountain ranges to the north of the Republic. In the south and south east however, the climate is more temperate/continental and is a perfect area for the growing of crops whereas the rest of the country is more suited to cattle (with the exception of the Eden valley in the north).

In terms of geology and plate tectonics, the Republic of The Cloud Peoples is generally considered 'stable', however it has been recorded that Mt.Genesis and it's neighbour Mt.Hardlife are still increasing in elevation. This is also backed up by the fact that the area has received a number of large earthquakes in the past 100 years however due to the low population density in this area, very little is on record. Also, due to the infrequency of tectonic events in this area, it is considered that this fault area is "quietening down".

Regions

The Republic has three major regions; Genesis, Capitol and South. The eastern regions Capitol and South are well developed due to the quality of land and resources available, however Genesis is generally severely underdeveloped for a country such as this - the main source of income being the low grade minerals that can be found in the mountains. All three regions are picturesque in parts however South and Capitol have a noticeable presence of development, however travelling to areas in Genesis give you an impression of wilderness making it very popular to tourists especially walkers, photographers, hunters and climbers.

Capitol owes it's success to the fertile plains of the Eden Valley and the perfect natural harbours that can be found. As a result, most of the industry can also be found here. South is mainly the agricultural area, however more businesses are coming to the area which is making the region into a commercial centre for the area. Genesis gains most of it's income from raw materials - low grade ores and wood from the many forests covering the mountains. However it is very difficult to make transport routes into some areas making some areas visited very little.
