The Autonomous Viceroyalty of the Fiordland is an island nation in the region OWU. It is the northernmost island of Ureupo, and lies northern an northwestern of Ingvaldonia and northern of Liberdal and Kusthet.

The Fiordland is a nation in it's own right through it's constitution; it's as well part of the Federal Kingdoms of Tiroladinien and the Litorale,in which it is one of three autonomous viceroyalties. While most domestic matters are managed by the Fiordland itself, currency, police, military defense and foreign affairs are handled by Tiroladinien and the Litorale. The Fiordland is a member of NPOW in it's own right.

Geography

The landscape of the Fiordland is not very diverse. Most of the country is covered by tundra, in the south there is a little taiga and in the center of the country there are glaciers. In the midst of these glaciers are the highest volcanos of the island, the highest and most well known is the Eldurtangijökull.

Scattered over the whole island one can find different hot springs and geysers, which are important for the local culture. Usually they are near the settlements.

Population

Ethnic Groups

The majority of inhabitants of the Fiordland are Fiordlanders. Only 3.5% aren't ethnic Fiordlanders. Among these are almost 60% Ladinians. 70% of Ladinians in the Fiordland are descendants of colonial settlers from the 18th century, 30% of them were born in Tiroladinien and the Litorale. The other 40% of people who aren't ethnic Fiordlanders are in descending order: Argliddians, Espiriusians, Amboussians, Draakonitians and Laero-Voldese.

Language

The most spoken language of the Fiordland is Fiordlandic, a North Germanic language closely related to Icelandic. It is written in a form of the runic alphabet or futhark, called Fiordlandic Futhark.

Another important language, due to the significant minority and colonial past, is Ladin. Since the Fiordlandic school system is based on the Tiroladino-Litoralian school system, Ladin is taught in school, as well as Italian, Slovenian and Ta'agra are, although the last two are virtually never chosen by any student.

The languages of the other minorities are only used in private.

Religion

Religion is not a very sensitive topic in the Fiordland. Most people are members of Fiordlandic Paganism, a polytheistic religion that has some distant similarities to far eastern religious ideas. Some Fiordlanders are officialy Pagans but also worship the Christian god in some kind of syncretic believe system. The rest of the population is either Christian (Enopontian-Catholic) or without confession.

Largest Cities

The largest cities of the Fiordland are all located at the coast. All the other settlements, which are usually very smalls cities or even only villages, tend to be near a field of geysers or hot springs. The largest city of the Fiordland is Þorskurgarn, although it isn't the capital. The capital used to change whenever the Þing elected a new speaker. During that time, the hometown of the speaker was automatically the capital. When the Tiroladino-Litoralians came, this tradition was abolished. Now the capital is in Firnstayn, because it was there when the island was seized by the Ladinians. The 6th biggest city of the country, Jósefia, was founded by the Ladinians during their rule and was for a long time only settled by people from either Tiroladinien or the Litorale.
