The People's Council (Laiatanese: Народный Совет, tr. Narodnyy Sovet) is one of two houses of the Laiatanese Federation Assembly. It is the lower house of the Assembly. The other house is the Federal Council.

The composition and powers of the People's Council are established in Article Three of the Laiatanese Constitution. The major power of the People's Council is to pass federal legislation that affects the entire country, although its bills must also be passed by the Federal Council and further agreed to by the President of the Laiatanese Federation before becoming law (unless both the People's Council and Federal Council re-pass the legislation with a two-thirds majority in each chamber). The People's Council has some exclusive powers: the power to initiate revenue bills and the power to impeach officials (impeached officials are subsequently tried in the Federal Council).

Each Laiatanese province and the Volkgoroda Capital Territory is represented in the People's Council in proportion to its population as measured in the census, but every province is entitled to at least one deputy. The most populous province, Trakovaski, has forty-three deputies. On the other end of the spectrum, the least populous province of Kalshkavo has two deputies. The total of voting deputies is fixed by law at 450.

The Chairman of the People's Council, who presides over the chamber, is elected by the members of the Council, and is therefore traditionally a member of whichever party has the most deputies. The People's Council meets in the west wing of the Laiatanese Capitol.
