New Zealandia is a minuscule region, with a thriving community of 53 nations and only 7 World Assembly Members. Nations in New Zealandia have voted it to be an alternate history version of real life planet Earth after a poll established by the regional founder, Union of Kiwi Socialists.

History
Origins
The region of New Zealandia was founded on May 21st, 2014 by The Democratic Socialist States of Union of Kiwi Socialists, and was originally home to three other nations. These nations were The State of Shahak, The People's Republic of The Peoples Republic of Wardogs, and the State of Caledonia (who has since CTE). The original regional government consisted of the founder and The State of Shahak as WA Delegate (non-executive). The region was password protected, as the four new nations were not yet ready to emerge on the global stage. All region-members lived peacefully, but State of Caledonia and Shahak (both mild Capitalists at the time) were soon allied, while Union of Kiwi Socialists and Wardogs (Being Democratic Socialist and Marxist respectively) made a non-aggression pact.
The First Civil War of New Zealandia
The populations of all four nations continued to grow, but some nations turned to puppet-making for their own security. During this time, Wardogs made the puppet The Union of Soviet Republics of Sjin, and this became his main nation. Sjin now quarrelled with Caledonia, claiming a Sjin ship was being detained by the Caledonian navy. He declared war, which was swiftly answered by Caledonia's ally Shahak. Shahak and Caledonia now turned to Kiwi Socialists, who although was de-facto allied with Sjin, sided against the aggressor. The war went on for many hours, with many puppets being brought in, and nuclear warfare seeming inevitable. Eventually, the so-called Shahaki Coalition (Shahak, Caledonia, Kiwi Socialists) were able to make Sjin sue for peace. The first Civil war was over.
Interwar Period
Most of the nation's puppets were moved to various storage regions following the conflict, with Sjin forming the region Marxist alliance to house his puppets. Shahak and Kiwi Socialists formed an official alliance, while State of Caledonia sadly ceased to exist, bored with NationStates, and has not returned since. The region formed new diplomatic ties via embassies, and even fought a roleplay war with the Grand Alliance Of Independant Nations. This war was ended with a 'temporary' armistice. However, New Zealandia claimed a win as they were able to defeat nations with populations of billions of citizens compared to New Zealandia's average of less than two hundred million citizens. The regional password was removed, and slowly new nations began to arrive. A regional map was made, and the new government position of Chancellor was established. This peace was not to last however, as ideological differences between Sjin and Shahak again caused hostilities to flare.
The Second Civil War
Although many new members had joined the region, two blocs of power still remained. Shahak and Sjin had both gained followers, and soon both nations dragged the entire region into a second war. The war went on, and soon became a test of wills in a war of attrition. Eventually, tired of war, the great powers agreed to peace. This was the last time that the region officially went to war, although smaller skirmishes have occurred since then.
Regional Government
The Regional government of New Zealandia currently consists of four offices, all of which are filled.
Founder
Powers
A Founder of a region has access to the regional controls and has power to:
- Change a region's appearance.
- Use a region's border control.
- Manage regional embassies.
- Establish a region's communications.
Appointment
Founder of New Zealandia is an eternal position awarded only to Kiwi Socialists for founding New Zealandia.
Incumbent
Union of Kiwi Socialists is the current and eternal holder of the office of Founder.
WA Delegate
Powers
The WA Delegate generally has the same powers as the Founder does with a few limitations. They are:
- The Founder of a region can decide whether or not to give the WA Delegate these powers and can revoke them.
- The WA Delegate must "spend" regional influence to use certain powers.
Appointment
WA Delegate of New Zealandia is a position earned by being both a member of the World Assembly, and having accumulated the most WA endorsements in the region.
Incumbent
The incumbent for this position is Shahak, who is New Zealandia's longest serving WA Delegate.
Chancellor
Powers
Although not a traditional position, the Chancellor serves as de-facto 3rd in command for the region, below WA Delegate and Founder. If either the Founder or the Delegate become inactive for an extended period of time, the Chancellor will take over their duties. The Chancellor can request changes in regional policy, factbook entry, and help decide the regional stance on current WA debates. Note that all requests must be realistic, reasonable, and approved by the Founder.
Appointment
Due to the great responsibilities that the office of Chancellor carries, elections are held monthly to determine which nation receives this honor. To become a candidate in the election, a resident nation of New Zealandia must telegram the Founder, Kiwi Socialists. Campaigning is allowed via the New Zealandia RMB (regional message board), but must not become spam. The same applies to telegrams. Any spammers will be withdrawn from the ballot. Nations then vote in the election when the poll is posted on voting day.
Incumbent
Currently, this position is held by Kuki-Airani, who was elected nearly unanimously on October 15th, 2014. However, the longest serving Chancellor in New Zealandia's history is Sjin.
Regional Security Officer
Powers
The Regional Security Officer advises the Founder and Delegate on matters of regional defense. This includes primarily defensive military actions. This position was established in the prelude to the 'Zebola' plague of 2014, when it was revealed that New Zealandia was a target of pro-zombie supporters.
Appointment
The Regional Security Officer is appointed solely by the Founder, Union of Kiwi Socialists.
Incumbent
The Federation of Esceen is the incumbent for this position. This position is still fairly new, and Esceen is the first to be the Regional Security Officer.
Regional Map
The first regional Cartographer was the Georgian City-States, who has since CTE (ceased to exist). Following Georgia's resignation, New Zealandia was in the need of a new mapmaker. Kuki-Airani volunteered for the position and immediately supplied the region with a new map. This map featured the entire Earth, unlike the previous map, which only included the European continent. New Zealandia's nations could now be located anywhere in the entire world. A link to the official map can be found here.
