A rather new nation founded in 1853 by 13 men and women of different races with the intent of creating a stable and free democracy. It is also noted for it's compulsory military service in times of war. The government is considered by it's politicians to be sleek and efficient, should everyone agree on certain topics. That efficiency can be quickly soured into a gridlock if the elected representatives disagree with each other on certain bills. Drug distribution is tightly controlled by the government, the police crack down on tax evaders without mercy, traffic jams are a common sight due to construction work from a massive overhaul of the nation's freeways, and military spending is on the increase. Crime is moderate, most of it being Tax evasion. Illegal guns and drugs follow at a second and third in crime. Rhodesialund's national animal is the Southern Gold Eagle, and its currency is the Rhode.

The country is a Federal Republic, with representatives being elected from respective regions and counties in the nation. One notable fact is that the nation is lead by two elected Heads of State, or Presidents. All citizens are required to vote. There are two major parties, the "Progressives" and "Traditionalists."

Around 47% of the population are human, the rest are a vast assortment of different species, Fedilea being the second largest at 37%.

Rhodesia has recently pulled all military forces from certain chains of islands in the East Keigan Sea, after receiving too much flak from the international community in Operation Buffer.

Climate / Location

Rhodesia is made up of two main islands, with smaller islands dotting the area around them. To the north lies Prussia and Serenitech. To the South lies Genosha. The continent of Pasifika lies to the north.

The nation enjoys a tropical and dry climate, with some regions being arid, more so in others. The East main island is viewed as a Safari paradise and a tourist location.

Economy & Industry

The Federal Republic of Rhodesia relies heavily upon a Free-Market economic system. Private enterprises are common in the nation and most of the time the government contracts out.

The three leading industries in Rhodesia are the manufacturing of arms, metal works, and tourism. The currency is called the Rhode. The government institutes a flat tax rate, as to promote "fairness and equality" in the tax system.

In the nation a chain of fast food restaurants named "Five Guys," which are headquartered in the sovereign country of South Hills, are all the rage.

Government

The Federal Republic of Rhodesia is a constitutional republic and representative democracy, "in which majority rule is tempered by minority rights protected by law". The government is regulated by a system of checks and balances defined by the Unilateral Declaration of Autonomy, which serves as the country's supreme legal document.

In the Rhodesian federalist system, citizens are usually subject to three levels of government: federal, regional, and local. The local government's duties are commonly split between county and municipal governments. In almost all cases, executive and legislative officials are elected by a plurality vote of citizens by district. There is no proportional representation at the federal level, and it is rare at lower levels.

The federal government is composed of three branches:

  • Legislative: The Parliment, made up of the Senate and the House of Representatives, makes federal law, declares war, approves treaties, has the power of the purse, and has the power of impeachment, by which it can remove sitting members of the government.
  • Executive: The President is the commander-in-chief of the military, can veto legislative bills before they become law (subject to Parliamentary override), and appoints the members of the Cabinet (subject to Senate approval) and other officers, who administer and enforce federal laws and policies.
  • Judicial: The Supreme Court and lower federal courts, whose judges are appointed by the President with Senate approval, interpret laws and overturn those they find unconstitutional.

There were two Heads of State, each elected from their respective island since the Universal Declaration of Autonomy in 1832. The system of a singular President and Vice President was initiated in 2014, leading to better oversight and balances on the Executive Branch. The Legislative branch is comprised of elected political officials from their respective territories. Inside the Legislative there is the Senate and House of Representatives. The Senate has two officials assigned to every territory. The House has representatives proportional to their population. This is to ensure that the minority doesn't overrule the majority and vice-versa.

To pass a bill, it must pass both the House and Senate with at least a two-thirds vote. If the Heads of State Veto the bill or cannot finalize, the bill must pass with at least a three-fourths of the vote. Repealing of a law has the same procedure.

The Judicial system is there to ensure that recently enacted laws do not conflict with previously enforced ones. Each territory has their own respective judicial system, but they all follow a unified set of laws established by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court is a court of 13 men and women of all races, in honor of the original 13 founders, that are elected in position by both the House and Senate.

Rhodesian Armed Forces

The President holds the title of commander-in-chief of the nation's armed forces and appoints its leaders, the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Federal Republic of Rhodesia's Department of Defense administers the armed forces, including the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force.

The Army is more seen as the National Guard tasked with defending the homeland. The Navy and Marines handle all aspects of leading military invasions and war. The Air Force is primarily responsible for air-superiority and logistics via air transport.

The Marines are highly mobile and well equipped. It is currently said that the Marines is bigger than the Army itself. A good example of the mobility the Marines and Navy possess is during Operation Buffer, when Rhodesia invaded and tried to annex the islands in the East Keigan Sea.

All four branches each have a highest ranking service member who oversee the day to day activities and other major events that require their attention. The Marines have "General of the Marines," Air Force the "Marshal of the Air Force," Navy the "Grand Admiral," and the Army the "General of the Army."

The budget is currently $91.913 billion and 10.0% of the GDP.

Ethnicity

The Federal Republic of Rhodesia enjoys a rather diverse population of different species and races. Although few members in high positions of government are not human. Recent political and social pushes have been noted, and exemplified when the new Secretary of Defense is a sentient Lupine, James Reagan.

2014 Estimate:

  • 47.6% Human
  • 37.3% Sentient Fedilea
  • 7.5% Sentient Lupine
  • 6.6% Other Sentients

Fedilea are sentient species of felines, or cats. The majority of Fedilea on the islands are related to Cheetahs, Leopards, and Jaguars. Three of the founding fathers were Fedilea, them being natives to the islands during their foundation. Before the foundation of Rhodesia, they were natives who settled in one location and often expanded that settlement. They would typically build mud brick structures akin to what the ancient Egyptians built. The variation of Fedilea range from Cheetahs, Jaguars, and even Pumas. This variation goes the same for the different statures in height. The body types are more lean or slightly muscled more than humans, but only in minuscule differences.
