Branding
After a decision by RiLFA, it was decided that the Cup of the Championship shall be the only competition to have a sponsor. This was done to simplify the naming (RiLFA Cup of the Championship was deemed too long) and give a unique identity to the competition. A competition was held to find a sponsor. 'Mint Ruhn-i-Leht' was selected due to it's neutrality in Ruhn-i-Lehtese football, as brands like Macknotic (who are the broadcaster of the tournament) and Ålandcomp (owners of some of the tallest buildings in Leht) were sponsors of multiple Ruhn-i-Lehtese football clubs. Now, the competition is named the Mint Football Cup or Mint Cup for short. Dark and light green are the colors used in the logo.
Format
Participants
28 clubs take part in the Cup. All of them take part in the RiLFA Football Championship. The TOP4 of the Championship skip the first round.
First Round
In the first round, all of the season's Championship clubs (excluding last season's TOP4) take part. In the draw, places 5-16 of last seasons Championship are seeded - all others are unseeded. Seeded teams can only be drawn against unseeded teams, and they play their first match at home. This way, 12 pairs are drawn - each to play twice against each other, with the seeded team playing their first game at home, and their second game - away. Goals are added up. In case of a draw, it goes straight to penalties. Away goals do not count.
Second Round
In the second round, the 12 winners of the First Round and the TOP4 of last season's championship take part. In the draw, the TOP4 is seeded, and the winners of the first round are unseeded. The seeded teams are drawn first, and they are drawn against an unseeded team. When all 4 seeded teams have fount an opponent, unseeded teams are drawn against other unseeded teams. This way, 8 pairs are drawn - each to play twice against each other, with team drawn first playing their first game at home, and their second game - away. Goals are added up. In case of a draw, it goes straight to penalties. Away goals do not count.
Quarterfinal, semi-final
In the quarter-final and the semi-final, the winners of the previous round take part. In the draw, half of the teams are randomly moved into a second pot, and they count as unseeded, with the remaining half seeded. Seeded teams can only be drawn against unseeded teams, and they play their first match at home. This way, 8 or 4 (depending on the stage) pairs are drawn - each to play twice against each other, with the seeded team playing their first game at home, and their second game - away. Goals are added up. In case of a draw, it goes straight to penalties. Away goals do not count.
Final
The Final is held at a predecided, neutral venue, between the two winners of the semi-finals. It is a single match, which goes to extra-time, and then penalties if needed.
